Weekly Rant: 11/18/2009-When the tough gets going QUIT!

This week I talk about quiting....Guess what it's the thing to do, it's like MC Hammer pants back in the 90's. ICP fans back in the early 00's and now the trend is quiting and quiting in large numbers. I have saw the last few months that this trend is HOT and will not end anytime soon. From Sarah Palin to Lou Dobbs. The tough get going, that is right, the FUCKING quit. When life has you down, quit...When the odds look HUGE, quit...when the rough gets tough and the tough people...quit! When did the world love this and accept this? They used to scorn people for this but now everyone is celebrated?

Sarah Palin is the most high profile of this quiting trend, I love how she went back to Alaska after her failed VP run to keep it going in her old job. However soon after her book deal was signed and she began to write her new book. She quit her job and ran away from Alaska to the folks like us fools in Salina Kansas who are paying to see her speak in Salina at a dinner in the 2nd month of 2010. Sarah went off and campaigned in the Virgina race. She has talked about being in the next presidential race. She quit and wow, everyone loves her?

Lou Dobbs quit last week and he is going on TV shows and getting 8 million dollars to walk away from his job at CNN. Wait, he has a contract and walked...wait I have heard of people who have deals and try to walk and they are forced to stay? Randy Couture from the UFC comes to mind when someone who quit when they had a contract? Lou got asked to quit, but I would have said. FUCK you CNN, I am staying and making my final year of the contract and make my 9 million. He was paid 8 but screw it, I want my extra mill, monkeys.

Speaking of Randy Couture, Randy has quit and come back every chance he has gotten. Randy has turned quiting into an art form. Randy had a deal with the old UFC and when they were not going to give him money to stay and compete for a title. Guess what Randy quit and went to Japan and got his ass handed to him on 2 occasions. Randy then comes back later to the UFC and signed up again and got in the mix again. Then when he would not sell his naming rights and other things to Zuffa{who run the UFC now} Randy pulled out again and ran off to do his own fight company and other things in the world of MMA. Randy came back again in 2000 and walked back into a title fight and won the belt. He left again and came back to the UFC when Zuffa was in full control of the UFC company and won and kept going till an eye injury took him out. Randy came back and fought and won in a different weight class. He would fight and compete and then he “retired”. Eventually coming back and then getting into issues with the UFC and quiting again. Randy would then come back again, so who knows when he may quit again.

Barry Saunders is not celebrated for quiting the Lions in the middle of the season? Then you have John McCain who quit his run for president and then came back, he was mocked and made fun of by both sides of the media. Many have come back and forth and quit, I just do not understand how people can cheer these people and then jeer others? I just do not get this, however my view on this is you have people who quit and try to come back and have issues. Randy in the UFC have had to come back and fight sometimes big time fights such as when he quit the UFC and took the UFC for court and he came back and ran into a train called Brock Lesner. Lou Dobbs is going to have to deal with jokes and crap, until he can get back into the news somehow. Palin is the same way, she runs for the highest office in the USA and people will carve her up.

Finally let's look at this on it's face, Palin can use her quiting as a campaign move and get some steam out of it. Lou Dobbs can use this to get a good deal out of Fox or somewhere else and make some big money if done right. Randy Couture has signed a 6-9 fight deal with the UFC and will be spending his career there and will never have to move to another place and work his way up. Quiting is cool, but I was not raised this way, so all these quitters are not cool...They are chuckle heads!
