Weekly Rant: 11/21/2009-When did Halls of Fame and off field activity's become muddy?

The recent Rush Limbaugh/NFL thing has become a odd circumstance to other ways of battle and has brought up a question I have? 1st off let's look at the recent dust up with Rush and the rest of them. First off if Rush would have bought into the NFL, remember he would have been non day to day operations. The man would not be making hiring and firing determinations. He would have been a guy who would have sat at the games home and away in a sky box. He might have given comments on if they were doing well and not doing well? Another thing you need to remember here in a bad money condition. I refuse to call it a economic downturn. There are those of us, who have never had any money so this is not a different thing to us. You have the NFL charging a license fee to put the Ram's logo on merchandise. Whenever Rush sold a Rams hat or t shirt to his listeners, guess what? The NFL would have made a buck or two. Then we had the off field antics from his politics to his radio show to his short lived NFL broadcast background. All this provided he did not become a part of owner of the St. Louis Rams?

When did off field activity's become the thing that people held over people's heads? For instance the Rush issue. You have people in the NFL who are rapists, killers and others but they are cool and we buy their trading cards. However if Rush comes in and wants a team, we look at everything he has done in the world of entertainment and off and scold him for his possible purchase of the NFL Team? When did this become the thing and when is it in certain areas are cool and fine?

For instance, the recent string of crap the NFL has put up with, plaxico burress and Michael Vick and people of that ilk. The folks over at the NFL have given chances to all these clowns. Let's look at plaxico burress, this guy shoots himself with a gun and gets 2 years in jail but when he gets out. Guess what he can come back and play in the NFL. Then you have Michael Vick, the guy participated in dog fighting but guess what he is now a top star for the Eagles. Then there are the people such as minor rookies and people such as that, etc. If your interested there is a site called http://nflcrimes.blogspot.com/ which details everything from the minor and major charges.

However let's move onto another sport which is held over everyone's heads as the best place. Let's look at Baseball, you have the sport banning people like Pete Rose from the hall of fame but we have in the hall of fame, who are womanizers, rapists, murders, etc. However they continue to keep out and threaten to keep out Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire,Sammy Sosa, etc. Because these guys used performance enhancing drugs. However the one's who have not gotten caught are now in the hall and then they admit to it. I think it's odd that this is such a double standard.

Let's look finally at the world of Pro wrestling, The sport that has held up more pieces of shit to the public. Now I am a huge pro wrestling fan but the sports world hates this but a lot of the mainstream sports world take a lot of their lessons from the guys in the masks. Let's look at the biggest thing in Pro wrestling, 1st off brother of Icon Bret Hart, Owen. Owen was killed during a accident at a pay per view years ago. Owen has yet to be included in any hall of fame weather it;s WWE or the Pro Wrestling Hall of fame. Now I will admit it, if Owen would have lived on, he would have never been a world champion and mid card at best. However he ought to be put in since he died doing what he loved and that was pro wrestling. Owen is not in but guys like Bill Graham, Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan who are roid abusers. Then you have people like Ric Flair and others who have been married many times but we will not let their off ring activity's bother their in ring work. Another person who is not in a hall of fame is Chris Benoit. Benoit killed himself and his family. He has been shunned due to this. However we put in Koko B Ware{now he is in the WWE Hall of Fame, what did he do in WWE? Oh yeah mid card and never got a push.} However Benoit won every belt they had and beat everyone that they had. Plus he helped build a lot of stars while he was there. Yeah that balances it out...

Finally let's look at the world here of hall of fames, etc. I think if we are gonna put wife beaters and drug abusers in, we need to put in everyone else and let in ring not bother the outer ring activity Then Rush does not get in but murders, etc. Can get second and 3rd chances? Nice...Real NICE!
