The big story of last week was not Health care..The big story was not Fox news getting dumped on by the white house. Not even this fucking cruise ship that is looking to be Titanic 2. In my world and the wrestling world it was TNA wrestling, the #2 wrestling promotion signing Hulk Hogan to a contract. Now this was part of the media circus that was to sell the book, Hogan has out. He talks about almost killing himself, until Ali's daughter talked him out of it. He tried to be The Stones Bass player at one time. Plus he could have left wrestling to become a Rock star, Sify.com recently caught this from The Babe Ruth of wrestling, “Hogan, 56, (real name Terry Bollea) played bass guitar in high school and was almost on the verge of giving up fighting at the height of success if Metallica had answered his calls.
"When Metallica was looking for a bass player, I called and never heard a word back from them. I would have quit wrestling in a heartbeat to be a bass player for Metallica," Contactmusic quoted him as telling the Chicago Tribune. “
However once I heard Hogan had signed with TNA then heard he is bringing along with him the man who single handedly could have killed the WWF/WWE empire, Mr. Eric Bischoff. I hopped on the phone and on the e-mails. The Bish is back in town!
Now back in the day we all saw that when Hogan and Bish got together in WCW. They created a HUGE gap and sky rocketed the WCW to the top of the mountain. The wrestling world was all over the map and people loved it as much or more than they do Mixed Martial Arts now. The Hogan era would end bad in WCW much like wrestling's 2nd hey day ended with bad determinations and big boys in charge who did not deserve to be there. Now let's look at the way it ended, Bish was out of the picture and WCW had in trusted Vince Russo and others who had come from WWE and it ruined what Eric had built. However Hogan made a come back in WWE and faced The Rock at a Wrestle mania. The Hogan we got was trying to be phrased out by VKM. So guess what Hogan goes AWOL and does a TV show or 2 and created a Reality wrestling show. Recently he got back surgery done and well, well.
The Much talked about John Cena/Hogan match last year was on and off and finally when Hogan got back work done, he pulled out of the match. Then talk of Hogan coming back to wrestle overseas on a Farewell tour was bated back and around. Then we finally got to hear that Hogan was coming back to face off with Ric Flair in a series of Aussie dates. Now, the world wanted more, Guess what last week when the Book was released. Hogan had signed with TNA wrestling and will work with the guy who ran him out of WCW, Vince Russo. Hogan and Bishoff are coming on to work with the young and upcoming stars and stars that wanted out of Vin Land and people that were casted out because of politics, such as Bobby Lashley, etc.
What is the best poss outcome here from Bish and Hogan coming to TNA wrestling? MMA is looking to be declining in small doses. This could be wrestlings return time? Now TNA already has a 2 hr show on Thursdays and could go live or move to Monday's in a hurry and with Spike TV behind them, this could be BIG. Another thing here is we have TNA who is not a publicly traded nor is owned by a big giant such as Turner or NBC or someone like that. TNA is privately owned, we do not know who is paying and how much they pay unless they let us know. TNA could become a giant like WCW and not have to be like an ECW or anything like it before. TNA started small and is growing and has a great TV partner. TNA has a lot of people who work there who want to compete and also get revenge on Vince for WCW and other reasons. This could be good or be very very bad and be worse than WCW.
What is the worst poss outcome here is we could see TNA flame out because of Russo and Hogan and Bish not working together well. We could see Hogan Bish want to get themselves over and not TNA itself. We could see young stars get pushed to the back and people like Lashley, Hogan and any old guy Bish wants to bring in could be bad. The world knows the story of WCW and we could see a repeat of this. We could see Bishoff be so overtaken to beating Vince that it could kill TNA. However this could make WWE better than it is, Because when Vince has his back against the wall. It could be great for WWE fans and it could push TNA to bigger heights. This could be very bad or very good.
My view on this is simple, Bish has worked for Vince and has been humiliated by Vince. Hogan has worked for and against. Both men would not come to TNA without having creative in their back pocket. Bish has TV projects built with every network, including Spike. We could see them move to Monday's and kick ass all over WWE. TNA has the talent to get it done and sometimes the booking and the writing can be funny and even better than WW E's Bish knows talent and could make the tag team and X division's great again. This could be the 3rd run that Pro wrestling is needing and has needed for a few years now.
Finally this is something that I have been wanting to hear for years. Either Bishoff and Hogan got back into the ring with either ROH or TNA or making their own. The Hogan tour was the kick off and the fact that Hogan needs money and both men do not want to sit back and go, damn we could have beat WWE and Vince. They could have went back and worked for Vince or they could take one last shot at kicking the old man and while he is down. Think about it, HHH and HBK run the locker room and Shane {his only son} has quit the company, his wife quit to run for public office. His best stars are either leaving, getting injured or retiring or nearing retirement No new stars on the horizon and people that could be like Kennedy or CM punk are either getting canned or being DE pushed because they looked at “Black Cock” wrong.{Wait that was not Punk that was another guy.}Things could get interesting and I will be here to rant about it. This is the guy who will have some guest booker be making some calls to my station and my boss and all my local papers and also be calling my attorney general. I am apparently using the radio station to get free materials from this person. Basically let's look at this, my station{is an INTERNET station I am currently sitting 2 feet from in my house}, my boss{Wow, guess what you been e-mailing the boss} and all my local papers? Why would they care about a INTERNET radio guy? And if you would like to call the Attorney General, go ahead his name is Ron and he has done my cable access show once and we are working on doing it again for the January taping. Figured I would just get that off my chest, See ya next week, you damn monkeys!
