Weekly Rant: 12/16/2009-2010

Recently we stated to several people in the business and professional life that 2010 is going to be a wild ride. I have noticed that 2009 was the year that was very stagnate for a lot of people. This year was a status quo type of year. The year 2010 is going to be a hell of a year, a lot of people have high hopes for the year. This week I am gonna spotlight some of the things that 2010 I am hoping are going to be good for.

TV is going to be an odd year not just for series and screen but for cable news. The news business could get very interesting such as Glen Beck is going wild over on Fox news and people like Colbert and others jumping up and down and yelling about the right and the left. You have American Idol coming back with Ellen as a new judge. TV could get interesting this spring and fall. The strike of the writers are behind us and we can go forward with it all. You also have Conan O'Brien duking it out in late night. WOW what a shocker for all of us would be for Jay Leno to get the Tonight Show back after NBC has threatened on many occasions due to poor ratings.

Local radio could get a shot in the arm in the new year, you have Salina Kansas for instance coming back full speed with 92.7 The Fan becoming 92.7 The Zoo. Rumor has it that the zoo could be coming back with the firing of Danny Havel. I hear from some good sources that Crash Davis and Brother ken could come back to the Salina Mainstream radio scene if conditions work out. However we could wait a lot longer for this, if for some reason the scene were to change and mold itself.

Radio itself could be changing soon as programming directors move toward more automation and we could be seeing talk radio take a good ratings boost when we have the midterm elections. Wow if Barry and the boys lose their power, we could see talk radio get a gain out of it. Rock radio seems to be changing as well. I still believe that if someone were to try a 98.9 The Rock format in Wichita Kansas it could work. However with Clear Channel doing things like with the flip from Classic rock stations to a more of a modern and classic rock mix, like they did in Wichita with 107.3 The Road becoming 107.3 The Breeze.

Pro wrestling is becoming popular again and it could be great with the rumor that TNA wrestling signed a 2 year deal with Spike TV. I have heard that the world of sports could change once the Monday Night War gets going again. TNA vs. WWE will be HUGE and I hope this gets going again. I am hoping that this becomes a reality with the the WWE needing to drop the guest gimmick and get back to wrestling. Vince is so worried about this TNA thing that the stories lines have been held off till after January 2009. So we could see the start of some great wrestling coming soon to Monday nights.

My take on 2010 could be a GREAT year with all the changes and more coming to 2010 including the midterm elections. Music will change and the world of sports will change with Tiger Woods becoming a hot story. I think this year could be something big, hell remember that Tiger Woods we thought would never be a big deal and it is. Frick, who the hell saw Lady Gaga coming and now we have all this crap. I think 2010 could and will be great and hell I will be here to document and bitch about it all the way.
