Weekly Rant: 5/10/2009-Immitating Wrong Thing{5/10/2009}

This week we chat about the one thing that has been talked about between me and a good friend of mine recently. Copying the wrong shit...This happens constantly out here. I see a lot of people not just doing it to me but a lot of people in the media world. This week we talk about from the cameras we use on JJTV to the Computer generated graphics to the style of music and things featured. We also talk about the way we presented and do present it. Am I flattered and do I think it's cool? Well we mainly will focus on me this week but if you see similar programs rather with WCW/WWF wars in the 90's to the MTV/Fuse music channel to Rock 98 and T 95 in Kansas.

First off let's touch base on the TV side of things, first off recently a program has been airing a lot on local TV. It's called Blues Masters, this is a gathering of old blues men in the city of Salina. It's hosted by the Blue Haven music studios. The event has been recorded for years by a guy named Cornell Hutton. This guy has been involved in TV for years. Well recently Mixed Martial Arts has exploded and Cornell has been recruited by one of my former rivals Sandra Price Byrd. She used to do kickboxing events in McPherson but with MMA being all the rage. She has become a MMA promoter a black Dana White, {if you will} She has a huge issue with me from our past but she has saw what the team at Access of me, Cw, Ross,Chris,Jared,Larry,etc. Have done over the past few years and how we came from doing it with 1-2 cameras to now being a mini wrestle mania when we do Ware fare events.

Sandra wants to do that in McPherson because as we all know, certain members of Mac wanna be big time and think they are, when they have no idea how to pull it off. The folks in Mac determined something with Cornell, weather he knew them or was a family friend or something. Cornell went to McPherson Kansas and filmed her event. He had the 2 camera set up and has the MMA and put it on Access. Now Sandra is attempting to copy what we have done. Guess what she is not as successful as us, because she is copying the wrong shit! Yeah, she can get an access volunteer member to film it. He can recruit someone to help ya and film the same thing in a event. Well Cornell does not put the same show together, he does not have someone doing interviews that has as much background in the sport as me, he does not have the angles that CW,Ross and Larry and Amy can get. He does not have the producer like CW to do cool music and graphics and make it look like UFC or Strike force.

The second thing we have been copied on is Blues masters and extra interviews. We understand that Cornell is doing them long before we came along with JJTV. However, now we have last years Blues interviews. I called Blue haven studios and offered and wanted to do interviews with the event last year. I told them Cornell can do the event, I just wanna do interviews, then I was told no. They did not need them and the event was fine. Guess what happened in the 2008 event, WOW...Interviews? Guess what, either Cornell copied us or Blue Haven passed our idea to Cornell or something. So guess what you watch the 2008 event and you will see that the audio did not get in and sounded like crap cause Cornell did not go threw the board. Second, the event's interviews were not CG'ed right, I had no clue who the Blues Masters was during most of the interviews. 3Rd, the event did not include complete interviews, it has od cutt offs and parts of the interviews. Once again, Blue Haven and others in this case are “copying the wrong shit!”

Thomas Lamb is the next guy on this list, some guy who created an on line magazine called “Mega Metal”. I have asked to work with this guy for years and he has on several occasions acted like he did not need my help. He recently told me about getting a deal with the CW channel and getting a 3,000.00 budget for his show. He had 3 XL2's on order and was going to takeout Heavy Pork in Wichita Kansas. Now, my take on Mr. Lamb and his cut and paste website and issues of Mega Metal that no one has saw or red, not with that withstanding. I once again think he is copying the wrong shit. First off saying he has a 3 grand a week budget from CW. The network is barely a network because it runs re-runs and WWE left it due to unstable money issues. All estimates I have saw in the media, if it makes it by fall as a national network, it will be a lucky break. Second on this end of things, ICT underground has all sorts of things going and they have to pay to be on the network. Another thing is, if the budget is there, Guess what your about a ton of money behind. Each Xl2 cost about 5-6 grand and that is camera, not mics,etc. And a lot of the cameras you have to buy in pieces and assemble unless you find somewhere like EBAY or Amazon. 3Rd, your gonna run Heavy Pork out of town? They are not a music oriented show any longer and they have been on for 9 years? Once again, they are copying the wrong shit!

Next thing on the docket is my pals in Wichita at ICT Underground, they came into Salina and have started a concept in Wichita called ICT Underground which is a local cable show produced by a good group of people. I do not personally have any issues with the sound guy{gas can}, camera people{Pat and Judy Show..in fact saw some of other work and I like it.} I do not have an issue with Joe Roach, the creator. However I do have some issues with their show and the host.{I use the term host very loose..almost as loose as she is in real life. Believe me I have heard the stories}

The show itself is a blasting rip off of Jiggy Jag TV in concept, but none the less. It takes 6-7 people to put 1 show together a month, and it takes 2 people to put together 5 shows a week! Then you have the issues with the host ability of Red, Honey...sit down and watch me or watch someone who has some good stuff going like Mancow or Johnny Dare or Bill O'reilly or Tavis Smiley. They know how to do an interview, They do not pass the Mic, they do not ask dumb questions,etc. However the issues of ICT underground copying the wrong shit! They present this program as a local music showcase, that's cool but if they ever wanna take this thing on the road or not, they have already stuck themselves in a box. I have made my comments before about ICT underground, so not much else to say.

Finally, am I flattered or insulted by this. I was insulted at first that they copied what I have been doing for the better part of 3 years. However, I do feel as things go along, I am very flattered by the fact that a lot of people are copying what I am doing and trying to give me a run for my own money. Instead of a WWE/WCW war where one will outpaced each other and then the other catches up and not like a Keith Olberman/Bill O'reilly feud where I take a ton of shots so much, so that it takes away from my product. I prefer to share input and do the show and wait for the people to catch up and once they get close enough to count the back hair, I speed up and outpaced them and let them realize, they have no way of competing.
