Bit rates question

I did the $48 dollar donation. It says that podcasts are supposed to be 64 kbps bitrate, but a lot of them are coming up at 56 kbps mp3. Some of them even as low as 24 kbps mp3.

What's the deal?

Re: Bit rates question

The podcasts are advertised as 56k or higher (and always have been). Which one(s) do you see below 56k?

Re: Bit rates question

oops. sorry. I swore that before I signed up (and had a log-in) that one of them said 64 kbps. (I think it was the difference between the Podcast-only and the Streaming+Podcast donations) Ah well, doesn't matter that much, I suppose. I'd have to log out to check it again.

The ones that are below 56 kbps (so far, starting from January 2006) are the regular daily show for 1/18/06 (24 kbps) and almost all of the Friday shows, at least up through May of 2006 (again, so far). Not that I've got much use for "The Friday Show," but I just thought I'd mention it.

Re: Bit rates question

We may need to go through and review all the podcasts, I actually wouldn't be surprised if some of the other podcasts like C2C aren't 56k. For the most part everything is 56k+, but every once in a while there just isn't a 56k copy available and a lower one gets put in.
